Caring for your silver jewellery & Hallmark
Silver jewellery can add a touch of elegance to any outfit, but it requires proper care to maintain its lustre and beauty.
Here are some tips to ensure your silver pieces remain in pristine condition:
-
Regular Cleaning: Clean your silver jewellery regularly with a soft cloth (We provide one with every order) to remove tarnish and restore its shine. Use a mild soap solution and rinse thoroughly with warm water, then dry completely.
-
Avoid Chemicals: Keep your silver jewellery away from household chemicals, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays, as these can cause tarnishing. Always put on your jewellery last when getting ready.
-
Proper Storage: Store your silver pieces in a cool, dry place. Use individual soft cloth pouches or anti-tarnish bags to prevent scratches and exposure to air, which can cause tarnish.
-
Wear Often: Believe it or not, wearing your silver jewellery often can actually help prevent tarnish. The natural oils in your skin can keep the silver looking polished.
-
Professional Care: For intricate or heavily tarnished items, consider professional cleaning. We can clean your jewellery for a small fee so contact us for more information.
By following these simple care tips, you can enjoy your silver jewellery for years to come.
All my designs are crafted using 925 silver, which means it contains 92.5% pure silver blended with 7.5% copper for added strenght. Unlike stainless steel or mass-produced metals, sterling silver is a softer, more malleable precious metal, perfect for detailed, handmade designs, but it does require gentle care. Delicate features like pointed or protruding elements, may get damaged if they are handed roughly. This is the natuer of real silver, so we kindly advise to be careful when wearing your silver jewellery.
Each piece is made entirely by hand, not in a factory, so you might notice subtle marks or joints, these are part of the beauty and authen ticity of artisan crafmanship.
Hallamark
By UK law, silver jewellery is legally required to be hallmarked if it weights over 7.78grams. Many of my designs fall bellow this threshold (unless stated otherwise), so they are not hallmark as standard. However, if you would like your item hallmarked, I'm happy to arrange this through an Assay Office upon request. Please note this process involves additional time and cost. Feel free to get in touch about this.
